Kevin D. Satterlee
Vice President and General Counsel

Kevin D. Satterlee was named Boise State University’s Vice President and General Counsel in January 2011.

He previously served as the Associate Vice President and General Counsel from 2005-2011, and as Associate Vice President of Planning, prior to that. He began his career at the University as Special Assistant to the Vice President for Finance and Administration in 2001.

From 1995 to 2001, Kevin was a Deputy Attorney General in the Idaho Attorney General’s Office.  His career in higher education began when we has assigned by the Attorney General as Chief Legal Officer to the Idaho State Board of Education in 1997.   From 1995 to 1997, Kevin was the Deputy Attorney General for several offices of state government including the State Board of Pharmacy, State Board of Nursing, the Commission on Aging and the Idaho State Liquor Dispensary.

Kevin received his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Boise State University (magna cum laude) in 1990 and was named a Top Ten Scholar of the University upon graduation. He received his law degree from the University of Idaho (magna cum laude) in 1993.

Kevin is a member of the Board of Directors of the Idaho Law Foundation and is currently serving as its Treasurer.  Kevin is the 2010 recipient of the Association of Corporate Counsel Leadership Award.

Timothy P. Fearnside
Associate General Counsel

Tim joined Boise State University in 2006 as Associate General Counsel. Before joining Boise State, Tim worked as an attorney in private practice with the Boise law firm of Givens Pursley LLP, where he focused on general civil and commercial litigation. Tim received his undergraduate degree from Bowling Green State University in his native Ohio and his law degree from Gonzaga University in Spokane.

Suzy Harbison
Associate General Counsel

Suzy joined Boise State University as Associate General Counsel in May 2010.  She comes to Boise State from The University of Texas System, where she held the position of Senior Legal Officer for Intellectual Property for The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, the largest research institution within The University of Texas System.  Suzy also spent 10 years in private practice, where she specialized in Patent Strategy and Enforcement for clients such as Merck & Co., Shell Oil Co. and Celanese Corp.  Suzy graduated summa cum laude from Auburn University and holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Molecular Biology and was a faculty Instructor of Genetics at Emory University while she attended law school in Atlanta, Georgia.

Melissa Starry                                                                                                                                                           Assistant General Counsel

Melissa Starry joined Boise State University as Assistant General Counsel in April 2011. Prior to joining Boise State, Melissa worked as a health care attorney for a law firm in Washington, D.C. Melissa graduated summa cum laude from Boise State University and received her juris doctorate from American University, Washington College of Law in Washington, D.C.

Kendra Smith
Paralegal/Title IX Coordinator

Kendra Smith joined Boise State University in 2001 as a paralegal. Before joining Boise State, Kendra worked in private practice as a paralegal where she worked in civil litigation and in criminal defense. Kendra received her undergraduate degree from University of Idaho her paralegal certification from the Denver Paralegal Institute.

Terra Rossland
Executive Assistant

Terra joined the General Counsel staff in April 2010, bringing 4 years of experience in administrative assisting from other departments on campus. She is a graduate of Boise State University with her Bachelor’s in Mass Communication.

Carissa Lentz
Administrative Assistant

Carissa joined the General Counsel staff in February 2012.  She is a graduate of Boise State University with her Bachelor’s in English with a Writing Emphasis.
